Lord Krishna explains to Arjuna “Who is a Ideal Karma Yogi or the Best amongst Karma Yogis”

श्रद्धावान्भजते यो मां स मे युक्ततमो मतः

English: Yoginamapi sarvesham madgatenantaratmana

When you maintain Devotion(Bhakti) while executing your Duty/Responsibilty(Karma) it is a ideal synergy. If we have to give analogy it is like sugar added to milk enhances the sweetness. Devotion/faith  in combination with Duty is most prefered by the Lord

If we achieve perfection in our Duty in the absence of Devotion, the probabilty of it being long-lasting is low. Many a times we may get burn-out, stress or complacency. Having faith in almighty keeps us free from getting burn-out or devleoping complacency and keeps us motivated, even when we reach at the Top.

I think it does not mean Devotion and Prayers are superior to Duty. Many a times we are devoted and also pray to Almighty on our path to achieve success. Human mind has tendancy to give up devotion and faith, when we achieve Success or reach at the Top.

Infact when we are at the Top of ladder, when we have reached peak of success, we should not give up on our faith and devotion to lord almighty. We should maintain our prayers while executing our duties, continue the same when we are achieving success and reaching at the top.

Faith,Prayers and Devotion to Lord almighty should not a routine activity but attitude of life.

Executing duty is the best service and prayer to god, but the one who also mainatins faith and devotion in Lord almighty is the ideal path.
